Oy House in Kyoto, Japan was designed by Katsuyuki Fujimoto Architect & Associates. The house designed in 2002 mixes contemporary minimalist design with japanese architectural elements. Features include a courtyard in the interior with an open street view.
Design outline
・ The ridgeline in Mt. Higashiyama (in Kyoto) is seen on the location west in a still residential quarter.
・ The courtyard and the void are arranged in about six capitation of the entire plane.
・ The courtyard in the interior is expressed as a street-gardened space through the parking space and the door.
・ Space for the exhibition car is secured for the door beside two parking spaces on the outside.
・ Because the courtyard in the interior is a space only for the bedroom and the glass disappears at night, the feeling is uniting. It is on the second floor between the pure-white skies, not seen from the outside at all.
・ Light falls from a top light and a high side. Moonlight is beautiful at night.
・ Delicate are the graceful stairs where space is not obstructed.
・ The loft of the third floor has a view of Mt. Higashiyama (in Kyoto) on the other side of the window through the study.
・ The Japanese-style room of the third floor is planned by villa existence as a reserve room. The mountain greenery is borrowed by facing the Engawa (the veranda).
・ The material and area are different on each floor and there is a feel that there are continuous spaces to discover every day.
・ The tension and ease are alternately felt daily.
